I was born on 30 October 2005 (Three weeks early)

28 October 05 week 37 plus 2 days, dad and mum attended hospital appointment. Mum told doctor she feel her skin is very itching since week 36, doctor let mum do a blood test to find out weather it is liver problem. 29 October dad rang the hospital up to find out the blood test result. Unfortunately, mum’s got obstetric cholestasis sometimes OC, is a liver disorder that a few pregnant women may get. Usually the only symptom of OC is itching. The itching completely disappears within a week or two of the birth and does not cause long-term health problem for mothers. But for the baby it may contribute to him or her dying in the womb. So I was needed to bring forward.

Induction of labour

At 14.00 pm 29 October dad and mum arrived at Labour Suite CITY HOSPITAL NOTTINGHAM, after the assessment and further blood test, the hospital decided Induction of labour immediately. At 20.30 pm mum’s water’s been broken, mum’s contractions were every 5 minutes frequently, but they were not strong enough, midwife tried to let it happen as nature as possible, gave about 2hrs to observe but still not mayor difference, at about 12.00 started infusion, about 1hr later the contractions became very strong and every 1-2 minutes frequently, mum was screaming, shouting, crying……for about 3-4hrs, mum could not bear the pain any more, asked for the pain relief, Godness, as the infusion, the epidural did not work at the beginning, about 1hr later it just started working, mum suffering the pain 5-6hrs without pain relief, poor mum. The labour lasted about 12 hrs till 6 to 9 am in the morning 30 October I arrived to this new world, dad could not help crying when he heard my first crying, and mum first word was: IT IS A GIRL, NO EBAY.

eBay or Megalyn?

I have a twin but not-identical English brothers and a Chinese brother. Dad teased mum if I am still a boy will put me on eBay (Brand new baby boy, never been used).

If I am a girl, my name will be Megalyn, which it can be shorted to Megan in English girl name, and Megalyn sounds like Chinese 美嘉琳 that means beautiful jade.

So when they did the second scan in 22 weeks, I crossed my legs over did not let dad find out what sex I was? Ha-ha, I am not a fool; let you put me on eBay, no way.

Do you think who I look like?

I am the only unique princess in my family, as I am half of Chinese and half of English. Dad wish I have Chinese chinky eyes, Chinese pig nose, dark hair…...

But mum wish I have English high nose, big eyes, curly gold hair …….
