How I came to this world...

..vision through Dad’s eyes.


It was a very beautiful Friday morning when mom woke up and said..."its time to go". It was 6.30 am. Instantly I got dressed. There was no pain at this time, but the waters broke and that’s why we decided to drive to the hospital. We live near Harku in Tallinn/Estonia, but our hospital was in other side of Tallinn.

Because of such an early hour there was hardly any traffic in the city and we managed to arrive to the hospital by 7.05 a.m. There was a midwife Ira Sasko, who is one of the top midwifes there. She listened to the heartbeats of the baby and also measured contractions. And then she said: "You came too early...please go and take a walk or something"...We went to the room nr. 9 to relax...mom didn’t feel like walking at the time ;) And then it started - contractions. The time was 7.30 am. Contractions were after every 5 minutes, then after every 3 minutes and after an hour they came after every 1,5 minutes. We asked permission to go to the bath.

Bath was nicely warm and big. Also the midwife helped the mother to relax in many ways and also made the uuuuhh....aaaah.... sounds with mom and me :). It was 10.00 am. After 20 minutes in bath the contractions were very high and the push came...one push...nothing happened....after the second push the head came out...and after the third push I saw the little child. I was crying...I kissed my wife and...uuuh there are no words to describe the feeling at the time...our newborn and beautiful baby was born. It was 10.31 am.

Midwife put the baby on my wife’s chest and there she was...eyes were closed, she was screaming and moving. She was miracle of the life.

Then the doctor checked the baby’s condition and gave her Apgar points...it was amazing: 9/10. It’s very rare and I heard later that doctors whispered all over the hospital that a very beautiful and healthy child was born.

Doctors cleaned the baby, dressed her and gave her to my arms. Meanwhile the midwife took care of the mom and checked her also. She found out that she had to make 2 stitches. Mom was very strong and calm and when she was ready, it was time to give the baby to mother’s arms. They looked so cute together...and my heart was full of happiness :)

Then we went back to our room and the mom gave the baby the breast for the first time. For a while the baby looked confused, but after studying the breast, she started to eat.

Approximately by 6 pm the same day we checked out from the hospital. At the same day...can you imagine? It was like a miracle, but the doctors said that if one knows what to do, and the baby and mother were ok, then there was no reason not going home.

And the best part of it all; the baby’s birthday is also her grandmother’s birthday. What a gift for grandma. Of course we drove straight to grandma’s house to greet her and show her birthday present :))))

So that’s it for now. I’d like to thank all the people who have supported and helped me and my wife during the pregnancy time. Especially our parents, friends, midwifes and doctors. Best wishes to you all.
