Our story.....
How mummy and daddy met.....Mummy and daddy first met on Saturday 1st March 2003. They were introduced to each other by my godparents, Mel and Paul Ashworth on a night out. At the time Mel was mummy's boss at work and Paul was daddy's boss.
Mummy and daddy first moved in together officially in September 2004 and on December 6th 2004 daddy asked mummy to be his wife...she said yes!!
During the time mummy and daddy first got together, mummy had had quite a few health problems and was told she might never have children. After the doctors did some tests and operated on mummy they found she was all okay, but by this time mummy and daddy were not convinced what the doctors said was true. They decided that once they had got married they would start trying for a baby as the doctor had also said it may take up to 2 years for mummy to get pregnant.
Mummy and daddy got married on 3rd December 2005 and by the new year mummy was pregnant with me....well i decided 2 years was a bit long to wait to say hello!!
My game of hide 'n' seek
Shortly after the new year, mummy started to feel unwell. She was very tired all the time and felt nauseous most of the day. At first she just thought it was down to a bug she had picked up at work but then she started to have dizzy spells and pain in her lower back and so decided to visit the doctor. Mummy's doctor took some samples so he could have some tests done as he thought mummy either had a kidney infection or was pregnant. During that same week, mummy had a dizzy spell and passed out in the bathroom, hitting her head on the basin. When she came too, she felt ok but had a slight headache. The following day (Friday) she rang for her test results, which showed she didn't have an infection, but he had forgotten to ask for a pregnancy test too, so asked mummy to go back in. Mummy was at home alone and didn't feel safe driving alone, so booked to go the following week.
That weekend mummy and daddy went to visit Jamie as it was his 1st birthday, but mummy was still feeling unwell. Uncle Graham told daddy he should have taken mummy to hospital in case she had concussion, so daddy agreed he would if the headache was still there by monday. Over the weekend though, mummy had some spots of bleeding and some slight adominal cramps. She didn't believe she could be pregnant so put it down to period pains and said nothing.
On monday the headache still hadn't gone and mummy was still feeling nauseous. So as daddy as said. he took mummy down to A&E where they sat for a few hours before being seen by a nice lady doctor. The doctor checked mummy over and said they thought she had a hair line fracture from the fall and mild concussion. She then sent daddy out of the cubicle and asked mummy some questions about may be being pregnant. Mummy told her about the spotting and cramps and the doctor asked mummy to give a sample for testing for pregnancy. The results came back negative and the doctor told mummy she believed she had miscarried a baby.
At that time mummy told daddy what happened at the weekend and what the doctor had now said. Neither of them really knew how to feel as they weren't aware they had been pregnant but at the same time had just been told they had lost a baby.
Another couple of weeks passed and mummy had returned to work, but still feeling very tired and sick. So on the monday morning on her way to work she bought a pregnancy test. Once at work she carried out the test and waited the 2 minutes for a result.....which showed up a blue cross meaning positive! Mummy couldn't quite believe it so rushed to get her work friend Eileen to check it. Eileen agreed it was positive and mummy next rang the surgery to make an appointment. After that she rang daddy to tell him - needless to say he was speechless and also quite apprehensive in case it was a false alarm.
That evening they saw the doctor hoping to get it confirmed there and then, but as always it was a waiting game and mummy had to go back on the Friday to get the results. After one of the longest weeks ever the test results came back and stated that mummy was indeed pregnant!!
By now it was around mid February and mummy and daddy discovered I was 6 weeks gestation. My hide 'n' seek game was finally over and as it turned out mummy had never miscarried at all, it was just me latching on to her that had caused the bleeding and cramps!!
The news was music to mummy and daddy's ears and after the inital shock that I had come along so quickly, were extremely happy and excited to be having me!
